How do I UNFOLLOW the comments on a photo? Hi. I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on BP for the past few years, so I don't know how some things are done. If I comment on a photo, and then want to stop receiving emails when others (sometimes dozens) add their comments, how do I stop getting notifications?

Cary, if you look at the bottom of each comment page for each photograph you will see a little square box that says "contact me of other comments...just uncheck that box and you will not receive any notices on that image. You have to do this for every comment you make on a photo! Sometimes I forget to uncheck the box and I think I've received lots of comments on one of my images and then I realize it's for some one else! :-) Hope this helps!

Thank you Joannie! I thought I tried that once, but it didn't seem to work. Do I have to uncheck the box and ALSO hit "send"---without a comment? Or will it work, if I just uncheck the box and then close the browser window?

Highlighted Comment: Cary, if you forget to check the box and are receiving email notifications and you do not want to continue getting them, there is a way to change your notification preferences. If you click on the pancake on the upper left corner which brings up your profile, then click on "My Profile", then from the drop down menu, click on "Notifications, Subscriptions & Preferences." This will bring you to the page where you can then select "Individual Notification Settings" where it will allow you to change your notifications on any image you have commented on. Cheers!

Cary, I meant to say if you forget to UNCHECK the box... Oh, and in answer to your second question, you should just have to uncheck the box and submit your comment. You should not receive any notifications then.

AHhhh! Thank you Carrie (great name by the way)! On a couple of images I have commented on---and wanted notifications on, for a while---I would get a notification email and there was a link at the bottom to no longer get notifications for that individual image. But not every image. Anyway, I will try browsing the "pancake" link and figure it out. Thanks for your FAST help, Joannie and Carrie! :-D

You're so welcome! I had the exact same issue several months ago. It took me awhile to figure out how to change those preferences, so I'm glad I was able to pass along what I learned.

Highlighted Comment: If you uncheck the Notifications, Subscriptions & Preferences this will stop getting an email when others comment on a photo that you have also commented on. But you will also stop getting other notifications that you may want to receive. You won't know if someone marked a photo of yours as favorite or selected you as a favorite to follow and you won't get notified about routine BP messages. To turn off notification for other peoples comments go to My Forum Activity. There will be a long list of photo comment activity. You'll have to look for all of the photos you commented on and then uncheck get notifications. This is sometimes a long process if you're trying to uncheck an older photos because you have to load all of your comments, uncheck the correct one and then as BP saves your preference it defaults back to the starting point and you have to reload all of the comments again to uncheck another one. Very tedious. You can select "Turn off Notification for all Discussions" but then you won't get notification for your own pictures either.
