Photography Question

Rhonda K. Mumm

Camera #2

I travel internationally with my job so of course take advantage of photo opportunities. But even taking the minimum equipment - DSLR and 3 lenses -- it can be quite a hassle and sometimes I don't even have time to shoot. But I can't risk going with nothing and missing an opportunity.

Do any of you DSLR shooters have a point and shoot type camera that you really like? I mainly do street photography so having a less conspicuous camera would have an advantage anyway.

  Rhonda,
I've had 2 Canon Powershots and have been very pleased with both of them. My current model is S100. The main features that prompted the upgrade from my prior model (SD790) were its 24mm (equivalent) focal length and f/2 lens.

Canon S100 is a great choice for a P&S and you may also get a nice bargain on this as there are two newer models which are S110 and more recently S120. All are great. Happy and light shooting ;)

I own the Canon s100 and it is a great little camera. It shoots raw and has a macro mode that does a good job. The canon "G" series is good, too. I have an older G9 that did a good job for me. I don't know about the newer models but I am sure that they are even better. Another thought... The Canon T3i is a wonderful little camera and combined with the 17-135 lens, it would take care of most of your shooting needs. I own the 5D Mark III and the 7D but when I am on vacation, the T3i is my kit.
