Has anyone noticed that less EP's are being given this month? I am so sad. I have entered some of the best work I've done lately and only received 1 EP out of 6 uploaded. At least one of them I am shocked as I thought for sure it would be noticed. ???

If they are up to November 9 then here's my stats so far. Nov 1, skipped Looked like for a few days I'd have a decent month. Not looking so good now. I seriously thought the Poppies would get an EP. Hopefully they aren't done with the 9th and they will still get noticed.

I am on a fixed budget so I can only enter one per day. I saw in one category, in one day, fourteen entries by the same person, and all had EP. Perhaps I don't understand the process but I feel discriminated against because I can only afford to enter one per day AND I have to work my tail off to get those. Two per day, maybe, but 14? Really? Talk about buying an advantage. It is not an even playing field.

Harriet, there is no figuring this place out! Totally unfair for sure! Let's make this a level playing field! Sure these folks pay for a better website here but they have the advantage of a more powerful presentation for their dollar but as for the contest lets make it one photo a day for everyone! And by the way, what is the monthly theme this month...is it funny faces for favorite destinations? The monthly theme category is full of two different theme images...let's pull things together here folks! :-)

I just went through the Man Made category looking to see what photos made EP. I have to say, some excellent, excellent photos were skipped AND the ones with EP were also excellent. I would not want to be the judge. It does appear that fewer EPs are being given out. It is all so subjective. I have about three this month so I guess I had better be glad.

Harriet - Is it possible that this individual already had EP's and was re-submitting? BP is using the contest as a means of increasing the number of upgraded galleries, which cost more. That's more money in their pockets. I would be interested to know how many people have upgraded their galleries since they made the change to the contest rules. I would bet these individuals place a lot of value in 'winning.' As a side note, I have won 2 opportunities to upgrade my gallery from both GPW's and haven't done so. The first year is free but afterwards you pay to maintain it. This is something I could easily do, however for the price you can go elsewhere, pay the same amount and be able to sell your work. Here you can sell only if you have a Pro gallery. If they had offered THAT, I would've taken them up on right away! Chins up everybody - I don't know anyone who receives 30 EP's in one month. :-)

Harriet, quantity will not give anybody an advantage in the contest. Quality is (or it should be) the only criterion in this contest. So one great photo shall always beat 14 not so great ones. One amazing photo per month should be enough to win you a GP each month. The way EP's are handed out lately, I would say it's more of a random draw than anything else. I do understand your frustration.

In response to the comment about 14. If they had the ep badges they were probably resubmits that had been given ep a previous time. Also photos are displayed in ascending order of uploads not submission date to contests. If a year ago I upload 20 photos to my site and then entered them one by one on different days and they got EP's and then entered them again one-by-one over 14 days, one might see what looks like 14 picks in one day because of the display method. Just a thought to explain what you saw. Personally I would like to see photos displayed in order of submission dates in the contest section. Submission dates work well in the gallery.

For those of you watching, they have judged NOV through 11/12. It probably completed. I was surprised they didn't do multiply days instead of just one. This is their prime time for EP judging and they only really have a week to 10 days before they move into the next levels of judging.

It looks like about 8 for me for the month as I don't expect any more, really unless they do a second run through. It did not seem that it was done in October so I am not hopeful. Some of my favorites we shipped again this month. I used to coach basketball. Every once in a while I would have a parent question why their child did not start. I would try to explain why as nicely as I could.. If they pressured me more I would simply ask "Who would you take out of the starting lineup so your daughter could start?" That used to take care of the problem. As I scanned through the EP's I asked myself the same question. Whose photo would I take out and replace mine with and I could not answer that. The photos with EP are all excellent. I guess they are just not handing out as many. As was suggested, I will just "rinse and resubmit". Still have a problem with multiple entries, through. :-)

I am thankful for the EPs I did get, but I am quite disappointed by one of my entries that did not get EP, and I do not see any reason why it wouldn't. Yes, I get it that it's all subjective, but geez ... the inconsistency in judging is becoming very discouraging. Just my two cents.

As of this writing, I have no evidence that SF's have been awarded. By that I mean I haven't gotten any and I haven't heard that anyone else has either. Assuming that we will see winners on New Year's Eve, one would think today would be SF's and tomorrow would be finalists. But of course, we could see everything on the 31st. As of right now, Dec. has only been judged (completely or incompletely) up to the 10th. I would expect they will take new year's day off and then begin a thorough evaluation of the Dec. entries followed by about 10 day's of Jan. On or about Jan 11, they will stop and judge the Dec entries. At least that's my prediction. I'm thinking they may do a really complete Dec, they way they did Nov. We'll see.....

Bill, correct. Staff Favs haven't been announced. But over the last year or so, this is the norm. We'll probably see SFs later tonight or tomorrow, followed by Finalists and winners in less than 24 hour duration. And then BP will start working more EPs for December.
