Photography Question

problem creating a link in text on your BP site?

At the risk of having this sit stagnant on here due to low interest in the forums I'll pose this question.

I've been attempting to create a hyper link to my own custom sales checkout from within the text of my BP website. The link keeps coming up "broken". Weird messages in return, failure notices etc.

The problem is with the BP site, found after contacting Mallory with customer service and hours of frustration. She tried to fix it by entering the correct "url" and html language for me and she encountered the same problems. She passed it on to the techs, but now it's been a full day without even a polite "we're working on it for you".

My question is how many of you have attempted to add a link someplace within the text of your website (NOT on your links page) for your photography business and had this happen?

I've found too many quirks to my liking using this as a webpage for my business.

Hi Thomas; I have an embedded link in the text of my BP Deluxe Gallery's homepage (see www.chrisbudny.com) as well as in the "caption text" under one of my photo albums. They "went in" just fine when I first set up the text...
I do see the active link to your fineartamerica gallery, however...

  Hi Thomas,
Sorry to hear you've run into a problem. I include live links (via coding that I've input) throughout my own site.

Are you still having a problem? Let me know!

Kerry

P.S. Hi Chris!

Thank you BOTH, Kerry and Chris! I did eventually hear back from the BP customer service and technical depts. The issue was with the way BP has their websites designed. Fortunately it appears to be resolved and the links are active.

This is good information for anyone who is using their BP site for more than simply sharing photos..actually even works for them as well.

When making a hyper link on your BP webpage you cannot use "quotations" as you would elsewhere. When I went back and changed the input html without the quotes as they requested, it worked nicely :)

It's "OK" for now,a temporary fix. We have some serious limitations with these Pro and Deluxe webpages. I've had a local gentleman who is a SEO specialist and web site builder look at this (homepage) for me and he explained how and why it will not work to my expectations and anticipated traffic flow. He see's it as a tool to get customers to take online photography/how-to courses and not much else. Not enough space for keywords or phrases and the host site itself has a very low google search ranking. (which I do not even know how to begin finding that out) He can help with the SEO, but for the investment he can build a much better website with the ability to interact, blog, write articles with related images to accompany accompany these articles. (an plenty more) I see that as my next step, maybee only keeping this as an additional web presence. I see several other professionals with more name recognition than I at this point maintain a phantom BP website and do their primary business/sell videos and other products through their own site.

Thanks again! TS
