What did I get? I just purchased a Sears ks500 35mm on ebay for $52 and everything seems to be in good shape. Since I am a beginner with all this I was wondering if I got a decent deal. The camera came with the flash, 50mm lens, 135mm lens, and a 2x teleconverter, which I was also wondering what that was for, and the bag. I'd like to know how I did on this, but I would especially like to know what the 2x teleconverter is for. Thanks. Philip W.

As long as it's working, you can't go wrong at that price. It doesn't have the cachet of the major name brands, but yours is a nice basic autoexposure camera. It was made by either Chinon or Ricoh. You can use it setting the exposure manually or in aperture-priority autoexposure mode, where you set the desired aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed. Information and a users manual for your camera can be found at: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/ Your camera can use any of the wide range of manual focus lenses made for the Pentax K-mount. You don't have to look for just Sears lenses. The 2x teleconverter is used to double the focal length of the lens (it also reduces the aperture by 2x). Used with the 50mm (f/2?) makes it effectively a 100mm f/4. Used with the 135mm (f/3.5?) lens it becomes a 270mm f/7 telephoto.
