Contest

I just can't believe after all the money we pay for our web site, we still have to join and pay more money to enter the contests. What kind of scam is this?

  Not a scam. A misunderstanding.
If you buy a web site, then you've already joined, and you can enter the contest. The contest is open to those who have paid for galleries, web sites, or paid for classes.
The masterpiece thing is what is extra, if you want to join it. I'm not sure if it has it's own contest, but it does have it's own recognition things within that group.
The monthly contest used to be open to anyone who wanted to register with a web address. But, that is no longer. If that is what you wanted, you'll have to blame it on the past riff-raff that used to hang around.

Hi, Gregory - guess you could call me one of past Riffraff who used to hang out here. At the time, my financial situation was pretty awful, but thankfully, has improved somewhat. I'm blessed enough to be able to afford the Basic Membership. However, the Classes, Summits, and Websites costs will forever extend far beyond my budget. Luckily, people here have been generous with their knowledge and specific help with questions. My skills seem to have increased just in the past three months, imho.

Gloria, I'm sorry you missed the information about what was included with your website fees. It's frustrating when things change, and you feel off-center. Luckily, your outcome is favorable, eh?

Not riff-raff because of being non paying, riff-raff because of being typical forum trolls as they are called, who hide behind anonymity.
There weren't a lot, but there was one in particular. So many people called upon BP to try and do something about him, this was their solution. It worked.
It cut down on some of the activity, but with openness you get dust and houseflies.

Thanks for the explanation, Gregory. Occasionally, someone will use a phrase that immediately causes a thinning of my skin! lolllll Over 99% of people I've met in online Photo sites are really nice, but there are a few snobbish cretins who can be truly nasty. Every once in a while I over-react (this appears to be one of those times.)

The forum has been pretty quiet since those changes were implemented. I dont miss Derek (or whatever that troll used to go by) but I do miss Mark F, W, Oliver A and a couple of others who used to frequent this forum.
my .02,
Carlton

Thanks to everyone. After time away sick I am back and now understand how some things work. Still trying to work out some things but in general all is good.
