Shoot Planning -- Monterey Trip

Hi there everyone. I'm currently attempting to put together a shoot list for my trip to Monterey in July. We'll probably be there a week at the minimum. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have on how to be prepared. I don't want to come back with 200 shots of nothing special. I also need to schedule my photo sessions around a family vacation. I can't be off by myself the whole time, and the family won't have much fun standing around waiting for mom to finish shooting that "really cool scene that we're really tired of looking at now...can we go now?" I'm sure most of my shots will be outdoors. The aquarium is the only indoor place where I know I'm sure I'll want to shoot. (Can anyone suggest a film for this?)

Other things I plan to do: Whale watching tour in the bay; early morning mist probable. I'm thinking ISO 400 for stopping action in the low light of the morning.

Sunset shots at beach in Carmel.

Long exposure surf-on-rocks shots. (Tripod of course)

The rest I can handle, I think.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, yeah! Almost forgot. I am hoping to do an aerial tour, so I need info on lenses, film, filters, etc., for this scenery. (I've never shot from a plane before.) Thanks!
