still life sharpness I would like to know how to get the sharpest pictures possible on a still life........I use Ilford Pan F 50 film

Use a tripod, as above, and, on an SLR, lock your mirror up. That mirror slap and the aperture operating whack are two causes of unsharpness using SLR's. Use your sharpest lens, possibly your 50, a 28 or 35, but probably not a zoom. If you own a macro lens (not one of these silly "macro" zooms), use that for your landscapes. Macros are incredibly sharp. Use a mid aperture, f5.6 or f8. All lenses are at their sharpest there. Find out from Ilford, or from an experienced darkroom person, what developer will give you the best detail with this film. Develop your own film; don't trust it to just anybody. You make me want to do this sort of thing with Pan F. Let Jim set you up a Gallery; I'd love to see what you're doing.
