  Hi Vishal,
Glad you asked! I've taught in a variety of in-person settings - workshops, seminars, university and college courses, etc. After six years at BetterPhoto.com, I'm still amazed at how much someone can learn in a virtual classroom setting!

But don't take it from me :-) rather, read what actual students have to say: Testimonials ... also on the Testimonials page, check the "What students are saying about specific classes" link.

Here is more info on BetterPhoto's online photography school:

- Take a quick tour of the virtual classroom concept.

- As mentioned in the tour, these classes involve not only lessons and assignments, but also critiques by a pro. And the courses are totally interactive too - with discussions, etc., among instructor and classmates.

- Our instructors have solid professional and teaching backgrounds. Our instructors have writing experience too - important for teaching online :-) In fact, most instructors have written books on photography, and many of them also write regularly for major photo magazines. That's why BetterPhoto course lessons and instruction are up to date, and relevant to photography today.

- We have quite an awesome variety of classes ... check out the courses by category. You can also review classes by skill level (beginner, serious hobbyist, intermediate and advanced), and try our cool CourseFinder.

Hope this is helpful, Vishal!
Kerry

Thanks for the reply Kerry. For sure, I will go through the testimonials and would really like to learn more about online classes.

I always like to have a face to face discussion so just thought if there are any classroom courses.

I really do not have much experience in photgraphy and I am not sure which category I fall in. I started photography as a my serious hobby but I would like to be a professional in Portraits and weddings. Do any section in Betterphoto helps me in identifying which courses I should go for which will eventually helpful in achieving my goal?

Thanks,
Vishal

  Hi Vishal,
Thanks for checking back in! We have some excellent courses in portrait and wedding photography. A nice gallery you have, by the way!

Some possible courses (in no particular order):

Portrait Lighting on Location and in the Studio

Taking the Mystery Out of Flash Photography

Available Light Portraiture

Posing and Portraiture Techniques

Digital Wedding Photography

Studio Portrait Lighting

Again, Vishal, those are just some suggestions. For any course that interests you, be sure to check out the Course Outline, FAQ, etc. (you'll see clickable links on the main pages).

Hope this is helpful!

Kerry
