Website Under Siege!


 
 
For several weeks I've ben receiving a flood of the most obnoxious Guestbook entries providing links to questionable sites (see above) and it's driving me crazy! It happens just about the same time everyday and we just got another 15 entires all time stamped 1:09PM Eastern today. It seems it must be a script. I have to manually go in to delete each entry, and had to take my Guestbook down while I was away on Holidays so it didn't fill up with spam (If I recall, the entries showed up anyway, but at least it was not displayed publicly). I know that this isn't BP fault, but I am wondering if an option can be added to block visitors from using HTML code in the Guestbook, or a "live body" verification step in the process so that automated scripts and bots can't leave mass amounts of spam entiries. I know I can always discontinue the Guesbook, but I would like to continue to be able to take advantage of all the features of my site. Any help would be appreciated!

Rob Bishop 		  Yea, I am really sick of the HTML crap about discount drugs. Getting 6 or 8 a day, and I have also taken my guestbook down. Seems that BP needs to figure out a cure for this. Pretty stupid crap.

Charlene Bayerle 		  I get those annoying emails in my regular email, at least twice a day.
But the guestbook.....does that mean that the numbers you have to copy in order to make a comment in your gallery or website, is not working?
HELP, BP!!!!!

Eric Highfield's Gallery 		  I was still getting notifications right up until recently, even with my guestbook down. It seems they can still spam you whether it's up or down if the know the specific guestbook address. It started for me right after getting a POTD a few months back...I'm guessing the spammers subscribe to it in order to get our web addresses while the traffic is high. I've just had to delete 148 of them that had piled up over the last couple of weeks and had to turn my guestbook feature back on to delete them through the update centre. When it was on, I tried leaving an entry. There was no verification process and once I clicked "submit", it bounced me back to the beginning again without leaving a post at all. It doesn't appear to be functioning properly, and is probably why I haven't been attacked in the past few days. I've turned it off again, so my homepage won't link to it, at least until all of this gets sorted out. I'm hoping there is a solution that'll allow me to start having a guestbook again.

Charlene Bayerle 		  You should contact Heather or Jay immediately....they can help you fix the situation.....and hopefully stop this from happening
