Premium Gallery Sort Numbers

My problem is renumbering my images in the sort feature for the premium galleries. I can't seem to get the pulldown menus to automatically adjust to a new position. Let's say I want to add a picture between the actual 6 and 7. NewSix would be Seven, but not according to the pulldown. Ever. Even closing the whole issue and reopening doesn't change the two Sixes.

This becomes a real problem if I add more than one image between 6 and 7 because I can't count on the ID number to do a sub-sort unless I don't mind that they're strictly chronological.

So what am I missing -- is there a way to update the sort numbers, too? I've just had to renumber over 100 by hand for the nth time, and would appreciate any help you can give because this task is like watching paint dry.

It seems to me, the subsort at a certain position is in chronological order. I am saying this is from my experience. But you are saying otherwise.

The current sorting scheme gives us complete freedom of sorting by ourselves. Therefore, only part that is done automatically would be subsort where the positions of the photos are the same number. These photos will be arragned in the chronological order (new to old).
So, to place your "newimage" between 6 and 7, then you will have to place the "newimage" at 7 (you will have the new 7 and old 7). And, if the new 7 has a newer upload date&time, then it will be placed bewteen 6 and 7. Is it not so, in your case???

Actually, it would be really nice if the system will renumber the photos that come after when a new image is inserted at a certain position. But current implementation does not have the capability.

Absolutely, Nobi, and I get what you're saying. The problem comes in adding three or more between 6 and 7 and when the chronological age business doesn't result in the order I want even if I fool around with NewSixes or NewSevens.

The only solutions I can think of are (1) not caring about the order or (2) putting on a lively CD and renumbering the whole gallery by hand. I truly wish your last sentence were wrong, but I suspect you're right :(
