90 dpi uploads

I just did a 90 dpi test upload, and there is a very significant difference in the web viewing quality. I paid for the Deluxe Website for business purposes, and feel I should be able to load all my photos at this higher resolution, as long as the 2.5 MB file size limit is respected. I was wondering why photos on Pbase.com and other websites (like Fred Miranda) always looked so much better.
Pbase charges ~ $23 for 200MB, and the Deluxe Website price is a hefty bit more. Also, since I now have a 14MP camera, it doesn't make aesthetic or business sense to hold back the results by a 72dpi limitation.
So I plan to start uploading my photos at 90dpi, including for the BP contest. I feel this should be an option for everyone. In photography the outcome is the most important.

Does anyone have a problem with this? I feel the quality of Better Photo would jump leaps.
See my Deluxe Website and compare the results; it is the sepia toned Chichen Itza pyramid (72 dpi) and the one labeled 90 dpi test. Both are in my B&W gallery.

I don't see any difference dpi makes. I've got some old ones that are 180 and they're the same as the 72 ones.
But I did find that using sharpening for the files I upload did help. No difference if I did it before or after resizing.
