Well, sorry about this. It is an edit of a picture I took this morning but done on my Android tablet using the Gallery app. I know the color may not be quite right, but then BP seems to have garbled the upload and it doesn't look sharp. I posted this for those of you still suffering from winter. I left the ice storms of sourthern Missouri early this week, got the benefit of a snow storm in the southwest mountains of Colorado when I was visiting Canyonlands Nat'l Park two days ago, but today was definitely Spring in the canyon floors of southern Utah today.

Stephen. Glad to see a bright, sunny picture. The snow was minimal down here along the Front Range but it seemed quite a bit in the mountains. Glad you are getting closer to home and spring. I like the complementary colors - welcoming and warm! I lie the composition with the large foreground tree bringing you into the picture and the background one bringing you through.Quite nice, even if BP didn't get the upload as you saw it.

Stephen, I like the comp on this a bunch. I do agree with you about the color being a bit warm, but it sure warms the soul for the cold winter we've been having. I like the side lighting as well. It adds some nice depth to the photos. Do you know what kind of tree is blossoming? It has very pretty flowers on it!

Stephen, glad you gave the disclaimer on this image. Your reason for posting to pacify those pour souls suffering from winter is commendable. However, as an image, it doesn't meet your history of excellence. Not only the color but the comp. Mainly the POV. The section of the background behind the tree is very busy and an image shot from either further to the left, or getting closer to the tree to the right of this exposure would have resulted in a less cluttered composition.

Dale, I don't have a picture from a different angle, but do have one with shallow DOF. Keeping in mind that the intent here is to focus on Spring, strengthened by the less common desert context, I think the isolation helps some. A tighter crop also seems to help the primary elements, the blossoms, compete with the busy background. Kalena, I was presuming they were apple. But this link indicates that somehow there is an extensive variety of fruit contained in the very small orchards that were visible. These orchards are at the mouth of a canyon that is only about a quarter mile wide. REF: http://www.nps.gov/care/historyculture/orchardscms.htm
