These are my Cone flowers from last year, I was out the other day and looking for signs of spring! No tulips in my yard, but these guys were catching some light and my eye!

I like "Standng Guard". I think the stems need to be selectively lightened so that they stand out better. I also think you may only need 3 stems rather than 4. The right one is a little too far off to the side (or move it in some). I am a little concerned, though, that the image isn't quite sharp enough even though at this size it looks pretty good. Your second image is a bit soft. I like the color contrast in "Seed Pods", but think the POV isn't quite right, and the pods needed more side to front light rather than side to back light for best effect.

Agree with Stephen's assessment, Beth. On "standing guard" a simple crop to remove the right stem would help.

It just reminds me that our yard is a brown, dried up mess. lol I do understand what the others are suggesting about the lighting and composition, but hey it's just good to get outside isn't it!

Stephen I think it is a bit soft, next time I need to use my macro lens. Peter we have lots of mud starting but I saw my daffodils trying to pop up and that was the highlight of the week! Bring on Spring!!
