Finding a pattern to fill the frame and then breaking that pattern with your subject is a great way to call attention to your subject. The red bag helps too. But these people are not on the third. The stairs are also tilted. If you can, go back to the same place and take this same composition but with the center point between the people on the third, and with no tilt to the stairs.
