Smolny Complex
The Smolny Complex was founded by Empress Elizabeth I in 1748 as a monastery and convent as she had intended to take the veil at the end of her rule. She never did. It is a five- domed, turquoise and white complex and one of Bartolomeo Rastrelli's greatest works. Could not get them to move the tour buses.
