Pilings and Trees
Taken at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, from Nebraska looking into Iowa. Now a lake, this narrow body of water was created in the early 1960's when the Missouri River was re-channeled. The pilings were installed in the early 1940's to prevent erosion of the riverbank. The trees are dead because they were submerged for a prolonged period during the flooding of 2010 and 2011.
I added a light painterly look to emphasize the naturally occurring design elements here.
