Swan - Head Shot

Swan - Head Shot
Swan - Head Shot
My husband and I went to visit the Swans at the retention pond at the hospital where I took this head shot of the male swan, who is a big ham when it comes to having his picture taken. It was sunny and early evening (5:00 p.m.). I took several different head shots as he posed for me and I really like how detailed this shot turned out. I did some slight post processing of the shot in Photoshop 7 (adj. brightness & contrast & sharpened),

I took this with my Nikon D70s with VR 55-300mm lens at 300mm, focus mode AF-S, AF area mode single, aperture F/8, ISO 320, shutter speed 1/500s, aperture priority, metering spot, and exposure compensation +0.7EV.

Thank you for looking.

Excellent detail in the feathers and face. Outstanding close-up portrait and congrats on Editor Pick Nanette.

Thank you. He is a local Swan and is a true HAM when it comes to taking his pictures. When he sees you, he comes right up to you and swims back and forth for you to photograph. I think they are very beautiful birds.
