This one was taken later in the day, looking in the opposite direction, after John Connolly's "Sunrise at Tea Gardens" shot. There is a lot of burning off getting done around the place after the bad April storm when lots of trees were blown down. F-stop f/4,shutter speed 1/1000, focal length 10mm, ISO 100.

We have had our share of fires in the North West USA. Hope all is well with you and Tony.

I too thought is was a tornado, Chris.
I can't imagine, though, why all these trees need to be burnt. That is a lot of pollution to cause.
But it sure is a fabulous image.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them so much, even though I don't get back to you all, all that often. The trees being burnt are only the ones that have been blown down in the fierce April storms we had, not all the good standing ones. We are both doing OK, thanks so much for asking, hope you all are also.

What a dramatic sky, Chris. It's too bad about that storm destroying so many trees. Looks like Mexico (and maybe lower Texas) will suffer the same fate.

Yes, I was just watching the news about Mexico, looks bad but so far no loss of life. These times are rather frightening , eh!!

Did it smell good? Depending on what kind of trees they were (that got destroyed in storms and needed to be burned) I bet it could be smelled for several kilometers away? In the winter we burn BIRCH in our fireplace and it smells so wonderful. It fills the entire neighborhood with smells of a "Cold Winters Christmas!" In the woods here they just let the fallen trees go. Then the maggots (big white wormy like bugs) take it over on the inside and the bears teach their cubs to eat the giant bugs! Great shot. I thought it was a tornado, too!
