Bio

All my life I have been occupied with pictures – pictures are just fascinating! As a boy I took photos with my beloved Agfa Clack, which took pictures in 6 by 9 cms. Constantly, I was chasing interesting themes outside and good photos in papers and magazines – these I cut out and pasted into folders.

Later on, pictures would influence my career to a great extent. I became a teacher, but wanted to make illustrated textbooks – so after just six years behind the desk I made the jump. At first I wrote and took the pictures myself, but I were soon caught up by different publishers, who wanted to make use of me as editor and consultant. And one day I was offered the position as editor-in- chief at Denmark´s largest publishing house – Gyldendal.

At Gyldendal I had a lot of exciting years cooperating with professional picturemakers – photographers, artists, art directors, and, last but not least, visually talented authors. My boyhood hobby had merged into a significant part of my work. Not as a photographer, but as an editor, and as such choosing the best pictures for a book was a very important function.

For 20 years, photography was reserved the summer holidays, family gatherings et cetera. But, turning 60 in 2003, I decided to revive my old passion. I bought myself a good digital camera – and then another one – and a good printer. Now, the ”darkroom” is in my study – that’s absolutely great.

I live in Denmark – on the small island Funen right in the middle – with my wife and our 11 year old afterthought.
