Bio

Bio: Alan Borror

I became interested in photography while a scientist at Polaroid Corporation. The work of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Paul Caponigro and others were in the corporation’s photography collection and were frequently exhibited. Although I had never taken a photograph prior to my Polaroid experience, the beauty of photography as an art form captivated me and I began working with a 4 by 5 view camera as a hobby. While at Polaroid I also was the author/ co-author of over 50 patents related to photographic materials and imaging methods.

I retired to Maine with my wife Nancy in 1990. I continued this work with the view camera and black and white landscape photography and joined the Portland Camera Club.

In the late 1990’s, I began to explore digital photography and was one of the first camera club members to work in the new medium. I now work exclusively with digital SLRs and primarily with color.

I have attended workshops offered by Ansel Adams, Fred Picker, Jack Dykinga, David Middleton, Tony Sweet and John Shaw. I have been a top contender in both slide and print competition within the club and have won awards in all Maine and all New England competition. I was part of the Portland Camera Club exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art.

I hope you enjoy this gallery and welcome comments.
