Bio

A few years ago I started to take a lot of photos. I was in Detroit all the time getting treatment for breast cancer and on the days I wasn’t too sick I started to take photos of all the interesting shapes and colors. Unlike a new modern city Detroit still has a lot of character with buildings and signs that aren’t all mass-produced.
Photography has helped me as an artist to see more. I think my paintings and photos influence each other even though when I paint I don’t paint from anything I’m looking at but those visual influences are very strong in my mind.
So that’s how it started. I’ve been in remission for 5 years now but I’m still out there with my camera and I just love it!
Over these past few years I’ve had my web site with BetterPhoto.com and what a great way to spend my time (when it’s too dark to take pictures). I’ve learned a lot by what people write in the comments, the articles and just by looking at all the wonderful photographs people submit to the site.
I hope you like what you see here and feel free to critique. From years of taking art classes my skin has become quite thick so don’t be afraid to let me know what you think!
