My name is Victoria McAfee. I am 44 years old and am a mother to three wonderful children. All moms say their children are wonderful, don’t they? I am with a wonderful man and now have two step-daughters to add to my family. I was born and raised in surrounding suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. I was not in a classroom environment for over 20 years until now. I graduated high school and started college at the Cleveland Institute of Art; however, falling in love at age 19 was my priority then. I decided that any art career in the art field would not be fulfilling as the life of a wife and mother. I would never dream that one can lose a sense of one’s self when you truly do not go after your dream. Three children later and an unexpected divorce is when my life really got back to being “mine”. With three young kids, going back to work was a difficult decision. So I created a way to make income and stay home with my children during and after the divorce. I started a small photography business with drawing portraits on the side, which pretty much started paying the bills. So eight years later, I am still doing the photography and drawing but missing out my other dream of helping others with my talent. I really do enjoy it, but I needed to enjoy my talent of art, photography, and love of psychology and want to express it with others. With Art Therapy as my future I have been practicing my drawing, painting and photography. Now I am making that dream come true. And with a better perspective of whom “me” is, my life is brand new again. I am currently a fulltime student as well to two different colleges. An online college for my psychology degree (bachelor level) and at a local university obtaining my masters in Art Therapy…this June I will be able to work towards my PhD. I love the art of photography but never got involved with the technical side of my camera and all that it can offer…so here I am…with the love and learning I am adding a few photography classes to my list knowing one day this will all pay off.
I own an Olympus E-5 DSLR and absolutely love it but still learning. My old film slr camera was a Canon T-90 that I miss sometimes because of its simplicity but am falling in love with the art filters and such in the newer cameras. My lenses are the standard kit lenses that came with my old camera (e520) 14-42mm and 40-150mm; but the two zuiko lenses I use the most are the 12-60mm and the 70-300mm...I also own external lighting and flash.
