To me it is very exciting to be able to capture an image as "I" see it, or an idea of an image I have conceived, or something I thing is pretty or interesting. Photography fascinates me as a way of looking at things from a different perspective... close-up, full of color, motion, shapes, shadowed innuendo. And the light... holding onto the light so we can look at it again later in the form of an image.
