'We see but what we have the gift
Of seeing, what we bring we find.'
(Henry W. Longfellow)

I have been inspired by nature since I was a boy. All my photographic efforts have the goal to do this love for nature justice. Another reason to take pictures is to open other people's eyes for the beauty that surrounds us.

Bio

I have taken photographs since my early childhood. I started with an old double-eyed Ikoflex camera my dad had given to me with a few rolls of B&W films followed by a mechanical Nikkormat with a Micro-Nikkor macro lens - possibly one of the best I could ever get.

At the moment my gear is Canon including an old AE1, a T70, a T90 and an EOS 100 with the usual Canon lenses one needs, nothing special. I scan slides (Fuji Velvia, Fuji Provia 100 F, Fuji Provia 400 F pro) with a Nikon Coolscan IV at 2900 dpi. The digital camera I use is the new Nikon Coolpix 5700 with a tele-converter and an extra battery pack (grip).

Whenever possible I mount cameras on a tripod (Slik) and usually I carry some filters with me.

I teach Biology and consider myself an outdoor biologist who has always sought close contact to all beings. I also run a small private raptor rehab center of my own where I take care of different species.

I have a great family with a wonderful wife and three grown-up children, who have always been very supportive.

My other love is music, I have taught piano for about 15 years at a music school here in Austria.

I also want to mention my friend Tess Campbell, who encouraged me to post on this site and made me start digital IR.

Last but not least I want to say thank you to the anonymous person who donated this gallery to me and to Jim Miotke who made this possible.
