I have always been fascinated with nature and wildlife photography and through the years, this connection has been growing stronger. In 2005, I decided to make a serious commitment to learning as much about image making as my spare time will allow.
I started out by reading several books on the subject. This led to my introduction to BetterPhoto.com which is now my main source for education. I have completed several online courses through BetterPhoto and continue to do so as they seem to work best with my schedule. I have found all of the instructors to be extremely outgoing individuals who are truly dedicated to helping their students become better photographers. I continue to read publications on the subject as well.
My goal in photography is to be able to deliver a strong impact whether this work is in the form of prints, slideshows, or web-based images.
I currently use the Canon 5D camera body with a small variety of lenses. I am in the process of learning Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom, which I intend to use for most of my image processing. My primary output is through a website, JohnCNyren.com as well as slideshows. I plan to start printing in the near future.
Originaly from the Boston area, I now live in St Louis, Missouri.
I am employed as a pilot for a major worldwide air carrier and I am often able to use time downroute to explore many interesting places. I hope to share these experiences through my photographs.
One of the things that I have found to be most helpful in my quest to become a better photographer is the input that I have received from others. Therefore, please feel free to contact me as I am always happy to discuss this subject.
