I've been taking pictures since I was 7 years old. My first camera was a Kodak Brownie. Then for my 12th birthday I got a Steky III, a very small 16 mm camera that took images on film similar to the Minox spy cameras. When I graduated to 35 mm, I first used the Kodak 35 [everyone's heard of that model] and Kodachrome ASA 10 color slide film. Of course, all of that's in the Dark Ages. I upgraded to the Nikkorex 35, one of the very first autoexposure cameras when I got married. In the middle 70's, I moved to the Minolta system with the SRT 201. Since 1988 I've been using Canon EOS equipment [traditional, as in film,] and initially with the EOS 620 and then with the EOS 3. For about ten years I used a EOS 30D; I recently upgraded to the EOS 7D and, obviously, enjoy its speed and convenience.
I use Photoshop CS6 with the NIK suite.
I love shooting seascapes and, especially, when I can combine a water shot at sunset. I'm also into portraiture, having started taking these seriously in the late 1980's. I've shot about a dozen weddings; I really take my hat off to those professional wedding photographers that must contend with all the guests and their point-and-shoots.
I am a registered Speaker and Judge in my home state. When I critique an image, it is with the intent of providing the maker with suggestions for improvements. I urge everyone to be ruthless in assessing their own work since for many of us, in a significant competition, judges can be very picky!
