My first love is landscapes. After that flowers and floral compositions with a little architecture and the occasional critter thrown in for good measure. My primary camera for landscape and architecture is a large format Toyo 45c. I have also done some racing work at Porsche club and SCCA sponsored events with 35mm. That is great fun but very expensive for one still shooting film. That will soon be resolved.

Update: And so it has changed. I have been dragged kicking and screaming... OK... that's overkill. Anyway, I am now the proud owner of a Canon 40D, three new lenses and an extension tube (make that two extension tubes) for macro work. This will greatly reduce the cost of the racing photography.

Bio

I have been involved in photography on and off since I was about eight years old. While in college (I was about 32 at the time, late bloomer) I was encouraged to take a photography class. While in this class, I was introduced to the wonders of large format photography. Fifteen years later my dream camera was in my hands. So I still shoot film. With the size of the 4x5 transparency I can play... a lot! I leave the scans up to the pro's with the $75K scanners (Heidelberg Tango). A little expensive but worth every penny. The result is clean scans with minimal sharpening required. I just couldn't resist the Microtek Artixscan M1 though. This is a nice scanner with enough resolution to bring out great detail.

I like big, beautiful, crisp prints! The bigger the better… well with some restrictions… for now anyway. But 50x60 is not out of the question today. The largest print I have made to date is a 24x30. Great fun. They have all since been sold at shows or by word of mouth. My long term goal is to quit what I do now and be a full time photographer. I know, that’s what we all want to do. I may have an unfair advantage though. We can talk about that some time.
