"God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools". ~John Muir
I took the shot when travelling through Wollombi with Graham at the beginning of this week. Wollombi is a historic village located at the gateway to Hunter Valley Wine Country which is one of Australia’s premier wine growing districts. ~Pat and Graham

A superb capture of this tree and the amazing countryside out there Pat! It won't be long before all its leaves have gone for winter! The lighing is excellent as is your PS technique! #1251361

LOVE this, the tree is so wonderful! #8475693

Thank you John! I got dozens of shots from up here and it is hard to choose from.

Such a wonderful area, I thought of you a lot when we were driving. When Graham wouldn't stop I'd say "I'm going to tell John on you".

Missed some wonderful shots I will never get again, cattle in a dam keeping cool, a baby calf suckling on his mother.

We are going back to shoot the Aboriginal drawing though as that will still be there.

Thankyou for dropping by my friend. I haven't had the time only to look at yours and Laura's gallery.

Thank you so much Daniella, I just love trees, have more to come. I edited this one in Painter11 to enhance the leaves a bit as the colour changes when uploading to here.

So beautiful, Pat...and the words of John Muir always wise and inspiring. I'm glad you had such a great trip! Funny about telling John on your husband!! :)

Thankyou dear brother Rolan, I love the weeping willows too!

You must have mental telethathy, I was just thinking of you, I must change the music on your card on Lala's site.

Thankyou again, hope you are getting better by the day and the heart pills are doing their job!

Pat, this is REALLY beautiful...and your filter work and presentation here both are superb, too!! :o) I also very much like the John Muir poem you quoted - it's SO true, isn't it?!! ;o/ #8496658

Dear Carolyn, thankyou for dropping by our humble gallery and for your encouraging words. It is SO true and very sad, the fools cut down the trees then complain there isn't any shade.

Can you hear the trees groan when they are felled! When I was younger I didn't care all that much.

Now that I am older I do care, as if it were myself being chopped down. John Muir's poem says it all hey my dear neighbour.

Best wishes
