Monarch Caterpillar on Milkweed

Uploaded: June 25, 2005

Description

I took this right at sunset. It was to dark to get a good exposure and I don't have a macro flash, so I composed the shot, manually set the speed to 1/2 second because I wanted a little time to be able to manually use a flash, and while the lens was open for the shot, I hand held my Canon 580 flash and pressed the manual flash button. Because I didn't want to touch the camera after I focused, I played with the distance of the flash to get what looked like a good amount of light on the caterpillar.

Aaawww I think the little caterpillar is adorable! I love the shot, and how the focus is directly on him! Great job! #1520558
