I like the colors here Joan. The challenge I am having with this is that I'm not finding a distinct subject. My just keep wandering. Might just be me, so lets see what the others have to say. #1230377

Beautiful colors on this shot Joan and a mos interesting subject.

There is a lot going on here which I think leads to the problem Jeff is experiencing. I would suggest this might make a couple of very nice vertical 4X5 shots, but for me the best one would be a fairly tight crop around the left group of flowers. Then try a vertical flip. A bit of unsharp mask to crisp it up and it should be good to go. #8325045

Joan love the colors here they are very beautiful, their their a treatment on these or are they really this color.
I like the new crop alot, I like the first crop as comp goes, and the lighting is great, but am bother that the blooms are not in focus, the second crop is great because of the blooms being in focus but don't care for the comp as well. nice catch Joan #8326010

I like the colors as well Joan.. I'm actually ok with the comp of the original image for the most part..I find my eye goes directly to the grouping of buds on the left...I think if you use the original format and take some of the top and off the right to clip through the last row of buds on the right it will bring more attention to the ones on the left.
You could also apply a vignette by duplicating the image and applying the multiply blend at about 50% then erasing over the buds on the left with a very large soft brush. That should pull even more attention to that area. #8326021

The colors are indeed lovely Joan. I agree that the comp is a bit busy and needs cropping.

But the biggest issue is the same I experienced with my cactus shot and the solution I believe, would be the same. Try a re-shoot. #8326307

Thanks all for your suggestions! I kind of like this shot.. more for the colour than anything else, however, will not be tromping way out into the desert for a re-shoot... Just not that stuck on the image in general! BUT... as usual, points made and filed away for the next time!! #8326377

I am always amazed by how interesting an item is when viewed up very close.

Nice work Joan. #8329039
