The Michigan Condensed Milk Factory operated from 1908 until 1960 in the City of Mount Pleasant, MI. The creamery was owned by the Borden family of New York and is generally known as the "Borden Building". The building stood vacant for over 40 years until the voters of Mount Plesant approved the funds to refurbish the building in 2005 and turn it into the new city hall.

Great photo and description. So, do you think there is hope for some of the Detroit buildings? #1225793Jack Ryan January 11, 2010

Thanks Jack and Mark... there's always hope and I think some of the more important Detroit gems will be saved, but many will be lost. I'm glad this building was finally saved, it was rapidly deteriorating to the point where they wouldn't be able to save it. #8288726Kathryn Wesserling January 12, 2010
I never knew of this building, David - glad to have you introduce it. Is this where Elmer and Elsie lived, or simply the factory? #8292870Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
