Description

A new beginning for the settlers of Cade's Cove at the foothills of the Smoky Mtns. Whenever I go through the Cove, I marvel at how they lived. They had to work hard and have a lot of courage to survive in those times.

Paul, thanks for the kind words. We were lucky to get a beautiful day for taking photos (and my circular polarizer helps with the sky). I was worried about the weather because it had been raining for several days and I had only one day to spend in the Smokies. Had it rained all day, I think I would have cried!

Laura, I love those old fences too. And it really is amazing at how much things have changed in what is really a short time.

Stefania, if you could live happily ever after back then, you are a stronger person than I! I could never withstand the cold and heat. And no lights to read my books late at night, no Internet, no TV! And not sure I would ever learn to cook on a woodstove!
