Cockatiel escaped being caught. He or she must be living in vent pipes at night because he/she's at my feeders early in the morning and lately it's been frigid! The lowest thus far is 24 degrees --well below freezing. The 11th of January, the temperature was down to 11 degress F. and no cockateil.
I pray for the Nymphicus hollandicus cockatiel every night that God will keep it safe and warm.
Nymphicus hollandicus are found along the coastal areas of northern Australia. In one area, Darwin, the average January (summer) temperatures in Celcius are:
31.8 deg C. and 24.8 deg. C. (or 87 deg. F to 75 deg. F). While, the max mean temps in July (their winter) is 30.4 deg. C. (86 deg. F.) and 19.6 deg. C. (66.2 deg. F.). Very warm, indeed.

Funny!So sorry to chime in that way. Hope I wasn't offensive.
I wish I could be as focused in learning to meter off the light areas of subject's bodies as I am injecting my opinion into the statements of people.
Haven't seen the cockateil in about a week and I worry. But, hopefully he'll pop in for a bite and a drink before the next cold snap. He's become more and more wild with every passing day, and alike the other birds, more and more filthy from seeking refuge in exhaust pipes, wholes of trees and whatever.
All I can do is provide lots of food and fresh water, and occasionally give them a shower if it's warm enough to bathe.
And, on warmer days, I stick my 300mm telephoto out the window or go outside with a tripod in hopes of capturing someone landing. #8344896
