Hi, Bill ...
Because I've never seen these before I am going to guess that they are orchids? And unbelievable ones at that :-)!! Extraordinary shape, color and background on these beauties, Bill, and excellently presented!!
Much Aloha,

I too am wondering what these are. The yellow really pops against the green. Very nice Bill. #1462323

Thanks Stan and Judy for the comments.. These are yellow ladys slipper orchids that grow wild in the north woods of Minnesota and Northwestern Ontario. I rescued these from a roadside ditch that was to be widened several years ago and now have them as apart of my wildflower garden. These bloom from late may to near the end of June. The pink and white showy ladys slipper is also here, larger and starts blooming in about a week, lasting a month. Hope I did not bore you with all this.

I thought they were Lady Slippers!! I love them! I've seen them in wooded areas in Manitoba, especially pink and white ones. I'm glad you saved them because they are very rare! Beautiful shot BTW :o) #1462414
