Pretty Rosy Cheeks: Nymphicus hollandicus
Uploaded: December 21, 2009
Where do you go to stay warm at night? You look so tired and in need of care. After all, you've been roaming since last summer. You don't visit the feeders when it's cold outside.

Poor little thing..someones pet got out because they didn't clip his wings.I'm amazed he's still alive. #8478208Bunny Snow March 24, 2010
His wings are not clipped. He's been all over town and either down hollowed trees or chimneys keeping warm. He actually survived the lowest temperature of 11 degrees F.I've made certain that I put out food every day for him to eat and poured boiling water into a plant saucer for either bathing or drinking. By the time the birds flew in, the water was either warm or cool. But, no one bathed til recently.
I did see him a few weeks ago. But, lately my feeders have been so busy with grackles, that he hasn't come in.
Thanks for visiting. #8478419

Thanks for the update..I have one of these birds! #8478630Bunny Snow March 24, 2010
I know you do. I believe it was you who wrote me of the people in Louisiana that could capture the bird and give it a home. The problem was that they lived too far from me. By the time they would get here, the bird would be long gone, and since the bird was sporadic with the times he fed, those women would have to move in, which was not possible. However, I appreciate the correspondence. For the first times in my life, I prayed every night that the bird would find shelter from the cold, and he did. But, I worry with hawks flying overhead or the barred owl being in the area. I hope he's okay. I suppose after surviving the winter, he's become a wild bird again. #8478659
