Surprise of the Sea 2

Description

San Pedro, California.

It was one of those shoots where the sky first looked disappointing. It was looking too cloudy for any type of sunset to happen. The sun made a very brief appearance through an opening in the clouds at the horizon, then the clouds began to take on color. With a few minutes, the sky became amazing with color. Some of the most amazing sunsets happen after the sun has dropped below the horizon. I used a 3 stop Singh-Ray reverse graduated neutral density filter to prevent over exposure of the sky. Only post-processing was to adjust exposure a little and a little sharpening of foreground rocks.

Exif: F Number: 16, Exposure Bias Value: -0.67, ExposureTime: 6/1 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 50, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 17.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 5D
