Description

1/640, f6.3, 70-200@168mm, ISO 400. National Capital Marathon Ottawa, May 29, 2005. He's within 50 feet of the finish, one of the earlier non-elite runners, coming in at about 3.5 hours. I like to photograph events, particularly sports. A major reason for getting an SLR to replace my fixed lens digital was to be able the get the shallower depth of field for sports. I tried this lens and my 17-85. Had better focus results with my longer lens. The wider angle lens was picking up the background fairly often, but this was due to lack of technique on my part. I found it harder to get the focus point I wanted on the subject when it filled less of the frame.
