Nice shot, Cathy. Those darn beavers are not tree huggers. They are tree eaters! #27090

Thanks, Lem! You know, the one thing I don't get is, from what I've read and heard, beavers bring down trees to use in building their houses - how on earth would they be able to haul one of these massive trees? I've seen them building their houses with willows and small poplars, but I've never seen them with big cottonwoods before, unless they are just using them for food? I have a b&w shot of a beaver that I monitored while it was building its house. I'll have to get it scanned and post it. I think it's a pretty cool shot.

I really like this shot Cathy! The lighting and the clarity of the wire! Plus the interesting fact about the beavers! #69810

They often cut trees to dam up the waters where they will build their homes too, Cathy. #69850

Beavers are such interesting critters! Nice shot of their habitat and habits, Cathy! Good grief..they can be destructive...like squirrels who have chewed their way in my attic several times!! Arrrgggh! Love critters but not when they eat my house! #69948

Now there's some beavers with big ambitions! That looks like some serious dam building! Some serious damn logging also :-) Great shot, Cathy! #70034

Thank you, Lorraine, Shirley, Dolores and Gary!

Lem: Thank you for the extra info!

Dolores: But the squirrels are cute, right??? I know what you mean, though. I wouldn't want them eating my house!

Gary: That's for sure!
