Description

F4, 1/50 sec, 1/3rd stop underexposed, manual focus at 1 meter; Saturation and levels boosted a bit. Additional lighting to freeze the action comes from a slave unit placed about 18 inches off the ground, to the left, allowing the image to be frozen. Triggered by a digital-capable remote optical slave. Alvin demonstrates how a Velociraptor leaps to surprise its prey. Washington DC (in the late Jurassic Period)

HOLY COW-did he get hurt doing that stunt? This is a great shot. I hope he is okay! #252893

Thanks Janessa - he pounced a half-dozen times in all, until I got everything just right... He made it through in one piece. Adults, don't try this at home. Sure beats trying to get him to hold still while I take his portrait, eh?
