Vicki,

You captured a nice picture of this spider. You wouldn't happen to know what kind of spider it is? I have never seen a yellow spider before.

Why Thank You Shannon! It hasn't been five minutes since I entered it! :) They are commonly referred to in the area of south eastern North Carolina as
Garden Spiders or Writing Spiders (it's an old wives tale that if this spider writes your name in her web, you will die!) I did know the species name, etc but can not recall rite this second but I will let you know! Once again, Thanx! #2795

Vicki,

Thanks for letting me know what kind of spider it is. I had never seen anything like it before. I live in Eastern Canada and we mainly have brown colored spiders. (I had never seen a yellow one..) Also, I didn't know about the old wives tale about the spider writing your name in her web. Pretty neat!!

Thanks again Vicki, and I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving too!

Keep taking pictures of the spiders. And, if the spider writes anything in her web - you must definitely take a picture of it and post it on Better Photo!

Take care,
Shannon :*) #2798

For me, trying to get a picture of a Writing spider in the fall is as traditional as putting a tree up when it's Christmas! You did a fine job. The leaf behind adds interest to the picture too. - Sue
P.S. I'd never heard the tale about your name being written meaning anything bad - since it's usual for them just to "scrawl" things across the web, it would be freaky if you could actually make out your name! Thanks for posting the photo! #2802
