Big Yeller
Uploaded: September 25, 2009
I had been eyeing this plant for more than a week, standing sentinel near a ditch on a major thoroughfare through town. I finally stopped last night, but discovered that most of the flowers were brown and wilted. This was the best I could find, and I did what I could given the blazing, late-afternoon glare.

Good Morning, Tess! Believe this is a member of the "false sunflower" family and they are persistent - will grow in the most adverse conditions - but they sure are pretty. A tough one in bright light but you caught it's detail and color wonderfully - I'd say you did a bang-up job! #1184552Joy Rector September 25, 2009

Wow, gosh! Thanks everyone (Valarie, Joy, Carol, Murry, Jessica, Lynn, Rolan, and Melissa) for those awesome comments.I really didn't expect much, as I mostly posted it because a) it was bright, and b) the fuzzbutt shot I prepped for posting actually needs some work, which I failed to notice last night (probably because my brain was fried from standing out in the hot sun shooting this flower!). #7982958
