Really different Matt and has me thinking. The fire crew don't look too busy so I am thinking this is a 'controlled burn' to get rid of a derelect building and gives the firemen a chance to practice tecniques. Am I right?
Nice work. Pete #1180751

Thanks Pete! but your guess was a little off. This wasn't a controlled burn, this fire broke out saturday on the Ryerss farm here in Chester County. Which is a retirement farm for over 70 horses. The blaze got so hot so fast the firefighters could only watch as there was no saving this barn. Since the barn was filled with hay for this winter, all that hay just ignited. This picture captures the peak of the fire.

Just to explain how hot it was.. the fire was still smoldering yesturday!

Thanks again

An intense image Matt. It does a lot for me. I too noticed the firemen just watching. It looks intense and with the caption saying it is a farm, I can imagine the chaos of the horses and hot blazes of fire. Before I read the discussion I was going to ask if the firemen just arrived or if they were helpless to put it out (that's what they look like) Were you at the right place at the right time? Or did you hear the sirens, smoke and followed? nice framing, color and light (what were your settings). Are you going to enter this in the contest?

Thanks Meghan! I heard the sirens and were able to see the smoke from my house. Ive entered this picture into the monthly theme contest #7961381

:) awesome. I hope you do well! I entered a photo in that catergory too but it was the wrong one. I thought I would make the deadline for the last months Instead of blocking me it entered it in this months'. Which sucks cause it doesn't fit this months' theme at all. Oh Well #7962704

A great capture on a rather heart-breaking image...I hope the horses are all ok?
Kudos on a well-deserved EP! Way to go :) #7973047

Haha sorry to hear about that Meghan. And Susan the horses did make it out ok and no one was hurt so that was a positive thing.

Thanks
