This looks exactly like a barn I know on in Rye, which is more old and beat up but same design. The State is trying to get an inventory of all the old barns town by town and I think I will be taking pictures of Hampton barns for the historical society. I forget which is your town but maybe you should check that out.... #1178361

I live in Sanbornville. I will look into that.
This barm is on RT 153 in Eaton, NH right on Crystal lake. Very cool. Rye has some nice old barns. We are very lucky to have access to all the neat history in New England. The posibilities are endless.

Makes me nervous when the state takes inventory of anything...Can you say "Old Barn Tax"? Ok, that is enough politics. I promised myself I would not mix my photos with politics. :-)

actually, the state has developed a Preservation Easement where you can fix up your barn without having your taxes increased..... it's a little more complicated than that but designed to help people take care of their barns without being penalized.... Towns must participate in the program, though... not all of them do.
(too bad they don't have those preservation thingies for our houses) #7929940

That is cool. I think there are too many barns falling into disrepair. I am glad to hear that. Got to love New Hampshire! #7929951
