Pigeon Point Lighthouse, Pescadero California

Description

I waited a year to come back to Pigeon Point and when I did...how I breathed this place in so that it would become a part of me...never wanting to forget what I was feeling, the sights, the sounds and the beauty of this place....this is the one picture that I took this year that takes me back to that very moment each and every time I see it....

Canon 5D, 24-105L, Manual, ISO 100, f/22, 8 seconds at 6:37 pm. A 0.9 neutral density filter and high f/stop extended the shutter speed to give a silky appearance to the crashing waves and a moose warming polarizer kept the beautiful blue tones of the evening sky during the length of the exposure. A red rubber band now decorates the bottom of my IS lens to remind me to make sure that it is turned off when mounted to the tripod... :)

This is as good as it gets, my friend -- perfect composition, colors, depth, detail (did I leave anything out)?? That you love this place so much makes it even more special. Awesome! #1175406

You have taken a lot of beautiful photographs of the lighthouses you have visited, but none is more beautiful than this one. Awesome composition...and the lighting is about as perfect as it can ever be in a photo. Your "mind's eye" must have been working overtime for you to produce this one. Absolutely awesome!!! #7908515

What a beautiful photo and I am blown away by the foreground. How amazing that for 8 seconds so near to the shore that there was not breeze moving through. Would I be repetitive if I again mention your magic with the camera? No, not when you show us the magic time and time again. Thank you so much for the details of your exposure, too. Your composition is flawless.

I used to try to remember to turn off/on the IS, but it doesn't always seem to matter, Why is that? It matters most with the 24-105, though. #7909259

..How peaceful and enchanting image,Amanda..From the colors of the sky and it's reflection on this tranquil and rocky waters to the rocks that divide the same waters. From the beautiful wildflowers edging the foregroung to the amazing textures and colors they bring to this incredible scene. The soft waves adding a wonderful sense of movement..From the four corners of the landscape to the well framed and placed Pigeon Point Lighthouse...All the elements work perfectly to create this breathtaking and full of emotions waterscape scene..
This image shows your feelings for this place and the patience to wait for the perfect light and the setting mood of your choice...
Stunning,once again.
