Hi Chris,Nice to "see" you again. This is a red-bellied woodpecker. But his belly isn't really red, rather its rosy. This little guy is a juvenile. His elders are more striking in color than he.
With all the trees we've lost (my property due to hurricanes) and others due to fear mongers who make money cutting down trees, the woodpeckers don't have as much food and come to my feeders searching for nuts and seeds.
We replanted trees, but it will be the lifetime of the next generation until they are as tall as the one's we lost.
The woodpeckers eat insects (like termites) which they peck from the bark of the trees.
