Description

Found these on my driveway yesterday morning. Guess it's where we are always Armour-All'ing the car tires! Have no clue what to do with these - if anything.

Miniature space alien habitats? It is an interesting shot and the droplets are the highlight. I like the shadows they cast too. I think I would go in tight on them - you may need to add a touch on the left edge so the Shadow is not cut off and it is possible that you will loose to many pixels on a real tight crop of the three droplets, but I think it might be worth a try. See what others might think of that before you do a lot of work though. #7894291

A very unusual and inspired capture Christie. Nice DOF also. Nicely done.

If you want the "globes" to pop and be the highlight of the shot, give this a try.

First use an 8x10 horiz format crop. Make the left side just to the right of the lens flare in the upper left of the shot and the bottom where it is now. The other two sides will take care of themselves.

Then duplicate the shot and flip it. Blend using a multiply blend at about 50% to make the colors pop and soften the effect of the blur.

Here is the killer part. Use the shadows/highlights tool at the default setting and slide the darken highlights all the way to the right. Then if you wish, add a little high pass filtering. #7894582

Personally I don't think I'd crop it or flip it. I think I would just clone out the drop on the far right instead, but then I'm a fan of negative space. #7898200

Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure about this, but I thought someone must've wanted me to photo'g it since my husband didn't run over it, and I went over it twice and never hit it.

Here are the 2 versions. Bobby, on yours I also went ahead and did the multiply blend and such that Dale had suggested.

Well, I'm not a fan of the flip at all. And to me the crop seems to crowd the droplets, but that may just be because I like space. I like the other adjustments though. #7898487

Christie - with the thumbnails, I liked Dale's version because they seemed to just jump out in front of you. But upon opening them up, I tend to like Bobby's version as it looks more realistic. I'd say that the flipped one looks too sharp in the droplets and that creates too much disparity between the soft puddle an the super-sharp droplets. #7898534

Christie, I like what you've done using Bobby's suggestions more than mine as far as the crop and cloning. However, I still like the flip and think that if you flipped his version you'd have the best of both worlds. #7898562
