Does anyone know what this insect is? It buzzes around like some huge fly and is pretty scary looking to me....what is it!!!!!!!

Hi, Linda! Am pretty sure this is a robber fly..a nasty fellow...They ARE scary looking, particularly to other insects, which they devour pretty voraciously. We have lots of them here in Central TX! You've captured him quite prettily atop some beautiful lantana and with wonderful detail and clarity. Excellent shot! #7889084
