This is the Grist Mill at the New Salem Historical site where Abe Lincoln lived and worked. The river changed its course and left the mill dry.

Fantastic capture and history, Mike. Why would a river decide to find another route (without the hand of man)?

Beautiful work and composition. #7809733

Another great old structure and an outstanding capture, Mike! Rivers will do that I guess, if left to their own devices. I know the old red mill I have featured several times is also high and dry today and is now a private home with a water wheel in the yard! Great job on this, with wonderful details and a cool POV! #7812372
