Hi Ron,

I know what you mean. I was hesitant to put it up at first, but as a native New Yorker I thought, hell its still a great town with a lot of heart standing tall.

As far as rebuilding the towers...I'm not sure what they are planning, but personaly I think they should make the area a Memorial Park, where one can go to reflect and meditate!

Thanks for the thought & comment, stay safe!

norman,
sadness will be the first and foremost sentiment coming up in everybody who has a heart and clear senses. but mind you, we are talking photography here, and insofar, I am sorry to say, it's a nicely choosen light situation but in general it's just another sightseeing picture(here I even would speak of a shot!) from the staten island ferry or the circle line. I strongly propose you get closer to what you are up to. sorry, I can't say better.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the critique, I appreciate all comments, as that's how we learn.

You are right, in that the picture is a snapshot, a sort of subjective submission.

I live at a point in Brooklyn which is right across from downtown NY and see this sight every day! In fact, the entire tragety of Sept 11th was watched live from this point!

I find it interesting, that of all the pics that I have sent up, only this one has had any response (and no NY folks). As I've said to the first club member to comment, I was hesitant to submit it at first.

I suppose I wanted to see how New Yorkers would respond to it, as there is a lot of feeling going on right now.

When I reviewed the pic, I was struck by two thoughts. One was how strange the downtown skyline looked without the familiar towers, a feeling shared by a lot of New Yorkers.

This was quickly followed by the realization, that it looked almost the same way when I was a kid, before the towers went up!

This before-after-before thinking, triggered a flow of associative feelings and thoughts, which I found interesting and I wondered if others would respond the same way!
